Dream Swatch Dress

DREAM SWATCH DRESS.

This pattern is inspired by Wendy Bernard's Dream Swatch Head Wrap, and includes her pattern as one of the parts. It is infant sized, and I used Sock Planter Yarn from Midnightsky Fibers.

Follow Dream Swatch pattern - but replace the garter stitch in the beginning with stockinette sts. You're supposed to have 17 repeats of the rows, or as wide as you think appropriate. Block lightly before continuing.

Pick up stitches along one of the long edges. With 17 repeats, I picked up 74 stitches. Knit stockinette stitch for 14 rows. Decrease two stitches.

Now for some rearranging! Divide your stitches on three dpns. Needle one: 18 sts, Needle 2: 36 sts, Needle 3: 18 sts.

Start with Needle 1, and knit back and forth in stockinette stitch for 10 rows. Bind off the 9 sts closest to the edge, then continue in stockinette stitch with the remaining 9 sts for 9 rows. Do the same for Needle 3.

On Needle 2, continue in stockinette for 10 rows.
Row 11: K9, *insert needle through next stitch knitwise, wrap yarn 3 times around needle and knit through (like in the Dream Swatch). Repeat from * until 9 sts left. K9.
Row 12: K9, pull stitches releasing extra wraps, leaving you with 6 long stitches. Confer Dream Swatch pattern for how to knit. K9.

Knit 3 rows of stockinette stitch

Then: K9, bind off until 9 sts left, K9

Knit on each side in stockinette for 5 rows, then do a three needle bind off with the shoulder stitches, or graft.
